Dejan Lovren wants the Liverpool defence to keep scoring
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren wants the defensive players to continue chipping in with goals
After grabbing a crucial goal against Chelsea, Dejan Lovren wants Liverpool’s defence to continue scoring. His goal saw Liverpool to a 2-1 victory against Chelsea away from home, while Klavan scored against Derby County in the EFL cup.
Lovren knows a team win is more important than scoring, but he hopes the defenders can keep contributing with goals. He spoke to Liverpoolfc.com saying the following.
“It was the right place, right moment,”
“When you have the chance to score, hopefully we will, and I had that. But the most important thing is the team, the three points or the next round.”
“Hopefully we will have a couple more defenders [scoring] this year.”
“We had a couple of changes but we have quality players who can [come in],”
“When you have injuries, they come in and you don’t see the difference. It was an unbelievable game and we showed our skills again.”
“We learned from our mistakes in the past and we know what we can expect from Hull City,”
“They are a good team, defending well, so it will be tough definitely.”
“But if we play like [against Derby] and in the games before then we won’t have a problem.”
Positive comments from Lovren
It’s good to see our defensive players bringing goals to our side. I think one of our weakest aspects is in scoring set-pieces, so if that improves I’ll be happy. I can’t remember the last corner we scored from before the Derby game, and even that came as a result of a mistake.

Liverpool’s defence needs to focus on not conceding. As long as they do their defensive jobs well the goals they score will only be nice bonuses. Hull is a real test for our team, given how we struggled against weaker opposition.
