Evans happy to go for a Burton

The Millers return home after four years in Sheffield, taking up residence in the brand new 12,000-seater arena and after pre-season friendlies against Barnsley, Doncaster, Hearts and Sheffield United, the real action begins on Saturday with the visit of Burton in League Two.

And Evans is relishing the prospect, but has warned against allowing the Brewers to become party poopers.

"I was with some other Football League managers the other day and they were saying this is the big match of the day," he said. "The club is coming home, pre-season is ok and we have had some great clubs coming to visit but everyone wants the comptitive action start.

"It is notorius in football that a new ground opens and someone turns up and steals the show, but we have got some big-game players and we have a number of players who can comfortably play in front of that crowd. But they have to go out and perform.
