Even Giovani dos Santos thinks he recreated his iconic 2011 Gold Cup goal

Giovani dos Santos has an incredible mix of skill and audaciousness. That is why he can pull off some of the amazing goals he does. Because it's one thing to have the deft touch to perfectly chip a goalkeeper, but it doesn't mean much without the confidence to try it.

On Saturday, dos Santos' skill and ambition were on full display when he made a fool of a helpless Nick Rimando.

That would be the goal of a lifetime for most players, but dos Santos is not most players. He's scored almost that exact same goal before. And it was just a cup final in front of more than 90,000 people.

Mexico started that 2011 Gold Cup final down 2-0, but stormed back and were ahead by only one goal when dos Santos hit that chip. It was a work of art and clinched the title in front of their adoring fans.

The stakes may not have been as high on Saturday, but dos Santos was just as good. And even he saw the similarities between his goal from five years ago and the one he scored for the LA Galaxy.

"Yes, it reminded me of the goal in 2011," dos Santos said on Saturday night. "I think it was practically the same; only it was on the different side. When the ball went in, that goal [from 2011] crossed my mind immediately."

The question is which one is better?*

* The correct answer is his Gold Cup goal, both because the stakes and that it was slightly more perfect, but that we're even having the discussion is insane because no one player is supposed to score two chipped goals this pretty in one career. It's cheating.
