Ex-Dortmund boss Klopp rejects chance to manage Mexico

Former Borussia Dortmund coach – and possible Liverpool target – Jurgen Klopp has turned down an offer to manage the Mexico national team.

Klopp has been linked with several jobs across Europe since leaving Dortmund at the end of last season, including Brendan Rodgers’ at Liverpool.

Guillermo Cantu, secretary general of the Mexican Football Federation, has revealed they approached the 48-year-old to take over from interim manager Ricardo Feretti, only to be told he wants to prolong his break.

“We spoke to his representative, but he said he is on a sabbatical and it would not be possible now,” Cantu told Marcaje Personal.

It was reported last month that Klopp was ready to end his sabbatical to move to the Premier League, while the German himself confirmed he would consider offers from clubs not playing in European competition.

“I don’t know where I’ll be heading to but right now, that’s not important for me,” Klopp said.
