Fans sing pie-themed chants to Wayne Shaw on bus, and he whips out a pie to celebrate
Last week, Sutton United’s Wayne Shaw became something of a folk hero when he ate a meat pie on the sideline of an FA Cup match vs. Arsenal on live TV. The fun seemed to come crashing down when he was forced to quit Sutton and put under investigation by gambling authorities.
But it looks like Shaw is still having fun anyway and things are looking up.
Shaw took a shuttle to this weekend’s EFL Cup match at Wembley and Southampton fans, who spotted him on the bus, serenaded him with several chants about pies (or pasties). Better still, when they sang “get your pasty out," Shaw actually did it!

Does Shaw just carry meat pies with him wherever he goes? Authorities are investigating his decision to eat a pie on TV after a betting website announced 8-to-1 odds he’d do it at the FA Cup. But maybe he really does just eat meat pies all the time?
Either way, Shaw seemed to be loving the chants from the Southampton fans and more than willing to embrace his pie-induced celebrity. Credit to the Southampton fans too — for being made-up on the fly, their pasty chants were quite impressive.
The gambling commission hasn’t reached a decision on Shaw’s live, mid-game snack last week, but we suspect he’ll be eating a meat pie everywhere now.
