Former U.S. women's national team star Lauren Holiday is in recovery after having surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.

Holiday underwent the procedure at Duke University Hospital. Last month, Holiday and her husband, New Orleans Pelicans star Jrue Holiday, welcomed their daughter, Jrue Tyler Holiday. Lauren Holiday's tumor was discovered during her pregnancy, and the decision was made to have it operated on and removed after she gave birth.

Jrue Tyler is home and healthy, according to the father's agent, who released the following statement on Sunday:

Holiday retired from the U.S. women's team following the 2015 Women's World Cup. She scored the eventual game-winning goal in the final to cap an illustrious international career, which also included two Olympic gold medals.

She finished her club career by winning a second consecutive NWSL championship with FC Kansas City in 2015 before stepping away from the game entirely to spend more time with her family. The club retired her No. 12 jersey.
