FREIBURG, Germany (AP) — Two goals from Mario Gomez weren't enough for Stuttgart to beat 10-man Freiburg as a 3-3 draw Sunday continued the team's poor start to the Bundesliga season.

Stuttgart was seventh last season but has just one point from its first three games, level with Freiburg, after the two teams contested a hard-fought draw.

Freiburg took the lead in the first minute when Jerome Gondorf finished a rapid counterattack, before Stuttgart responded with goals from Emiliano Insua and Gomez either side of halftime.

Gondorf briefly put Freiburg level at 2-2 with a free kick in the 51st minute, but Gomez headed Stuttgart back into the lead five minutes later. Luca Waldschmidt's deflected shot made it 3-3 in the 81st and Stuttgart couldn't take the lead again despite Freiburg losing Pascal Stenzel to a second yellow card for a poor tackle.

Newly promoted Nuremberg earned its second point of the season in dramatic style as substitute Virgil Misidjan scored on his Bundesliga debut in stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen.

The video referees ruled out an earlier Ondrej Petrak goal for Nuremberg due to offside. Maximilian Eggestein gave Bremen the lead in the 27th.
