Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo Questionable for Sunday
Real Madrid have enjoyed a red hot start to the season, winning all three La Liga games thus far and the opening game in the Champions League Group stage. However, a knock to Gareth Bale in Wednesday’s game, has left him questionable to play Sunday at Espanyol. Cristiano Ronaldo is questionable as well after playing two games within a week fresh off a month long absence from the field due to a knee injury.
Following an exciting week for Los Blancos, and a big away game coming up this weekend, two Real Madrid stars were absent at the training grounds this week. Bale and Ronaldo both missed training today at the Valdebebas both dealing with ailing legs.

Bale was forced off Wednesday in Real’s win over Sporting Lisbon 20 minutes into the second half after sustaining a knock on the thigh just before halftime from Lisbon defender Sebastian Coates. Reports are saying that it is very likely Bale misses the trip to Barcelona this weekend and will meet with the team doctor in the coming days to reassess the thigh.
Ronaldo on the other hand, is still healing from an injury he picked up in the Euro back in July. After missing all the preseason and the first two games of the league schedule, Ronaldo played just over an hour in his return against Osasuna and the full 90 minutes on Wednesday in the Champions League. Due to this, he is unsure if he will be available to play again on Sunday as he is still trying to rehab his knee to 100%.

If Real Madrid are without Bale and Ronaldo Sunday, expect to see both Lucas Vasquez and James Rodriguez play in their places. James and Vasquez are coming off a great performances against Sporting Lisbon so don’t be surprised to see Zidane look to them if Bale and Ronaldo are even the slightest bit unsure if they can play.
