Goalkeeper's horrendous howler lifts 10-man Club America into CCL final

It's not easy being a goalkeeper.

A string of dazzling saves can land you in the spotlight. On the flip side, a seismic gaffe might make you the goat, and that's exactly what happened to Agustin Marchesin.

After Santos Laguna and Club America went 180 minutes without scoring across two legs in their CONCACAF Champions League semifinal bout, the duo's fate was to be decided by extra time late Tuesday night.

Three minutes before the conclusion of the first half of extra time, Club America won a free kick just outside the edge of the area. With the hosts flooding the box with personnel, hoping to get on the end of the ensuing sequence, Michael Arroyo opted for a direct look at goal instead.

Arroyo's free kick was the eventual match-winner, as defending champions Club America, who were reduced to 10 men just before the full-time whistle, sealed a date with fellow Liga MX side Tigres in the two-legged final.
