Hodgson signs contract extension with Crystal Palace
LONDON (AP) — Roy Hodgson has signed a one-year contract extension with Crystal Palace, tying him to the Premier League club until 2020.
The 71-year-old former England coach took over at the club after replacing Frank de Boer in September 2017, with the Dutchman fired only five games into the season.
After being in and around the relegation zone for much of the season, Palace finished in 11th place.
"We can be proud of our achievements last season in turning things around despite a poor start," Hodgson said. "But this year we want to ensure we don't endure the same struggles."
Hodgson, who is set to enter his 43rd year as a coach, has led four international teams. His four-year spell in charge of his home nation ended when England was eliminated from the 2016 European Championship by Iceland.
Hodgson's assistant, Ray Lewington, has also signed an extension.
