Houston Dash Victorious in Bottom of the Table Clash
The Houston Dash won on the road in Boston on Wednesday night as Kealia Ohai led the way with a first half brace.
This was a big match for both sides as the two clubs found themselves in the last two spots in the league coming into Wednesday night. In the end it was a dominate victory from the Dash with a near clean sheet and plenty of great goals .
How it Happened
It was Ohai who got the scoring underway right off the bat. Carli Lloyd created a turnover and then fed the ball through to the striker who finished into the side netting. There was almost a second goal for the Dash in the 14th minute, but Brooke Elby kept it out with a last stitch clearance.
A quick counter attack in the 33rd minute led to Ohai’s second of the night as she dispatched her seventh goal of the season. The goal gave her side a 2-0 lead going into the break.
The Boston Breakers almost scored in the 47th minute, but Lydia Williams came up with a big save to preserve the two goal advantage. Ohai came close to picking up a hat trick less than five minutes later when her effort hit the post.
Lloyd would score the third of the night for the Dash in the 62nd minute as her shot from well outside the box took the keeper completely by surprise. It was only the second goal of the season for the midfielder.
Natasha Dowie scored a late consolation goal for the home team in the final minutes of the match with Kyah Simon providing the assist. It ended the clean sheet bid, which would have been the third clean sheet of the season for the Dash.
