For the first time in longer than most can remember (June 20, 2012), the Houston Dynamo not only rebounded from a two goal deficit but they did on a second half stoppage time goal. Raul Rodriguez’s goal in the 94th minute completed the comeback for the Houston Dynamo on Friday night against Sporting Kansas City (SKC). This may very well have been the statement game the Dynamo have been seeking all season.
SKC led the match with two goals in the first 26 minutes of the match and the Dynamo Houston has just appeared headed to another road loss. Houston had entered the match with just three road wins over the last two seasons.
Trailing 2-0, the Houston Dynamo refused to fold. Mauro Manotas, the young Columbian striker scored his first regular season MLS goal at the half hour mark. The Dynamo equalized thirty minutes later as Houston midfielder Alex sent a blast by SKC keeper Alec Kann.

Sporting Kansas City would make another bid for the win scoring in the 81st minute off a corner kick but Houston would not go away. Taking a page from their opponents playbook, the Houston Dynamo continued to pressure in the attacking third and in the 94th minute drew a free kick from 45 yards out. Boniek Garcia fresh off his Honduran CONCACAF qualifying draw with Mexico delivered a service that Rodriguez headed towards goal enroute bouncing off the crossbar and Kann before settling on the back of the net for the game tying equalizer. For once in a very long time, the Houston Dynamo were happy with a draw that felt much like a win.
Houston returns to action on September 17th when they visit Real Salt Lake.
