How do you blow a 4v1 breakaway? Watch and see

There's not much more thrilling in soccer than a breakaway. That moment when everyone springs into action and a goal feels imminent.

But sometimes the breakaway can be cruel, lifting your spirits sky-high only to crash them down into smithereens. Such was the case Iraq found themselves in 4v1 against Thailand on Tuesday:

They could've done just about anything other than what they did and score the goal. And that is what makes the missed effort great.

If we want to get into the technical execution, this was a horrible breakaway all around. None of those runs gave the guy a great passing outlet and they were all clumped together in the middle of the field. Then, oh gosh, that pass — a weak pass behind the guy's run. Why? Still, he should've been able to finish that and… nope. Even the announcer can't believe it, exclaiming the rough English equivalent of "Oh dear god."

Sometimes missing the net can be elevated to an art form, and Iraq gave us a masterpiece. Iraq still won the game 4-0, but that horrible/amazing four-on-one breakaway deserves to be remembered forever.
