Ibrahimovic remains coy on possible Serie A return

Published Feb. 17, 2016 6:34 a.m. ET

Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Serie A next season.

Ibrahimovic, 34, has a contract with the Ligue 1 champions that runs until the end of June, when he would become available on a free transfer.

The Sweden international has previously played for Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan, winning the Scudetto three seasons in a row under Roberto Mancini and Jose Mourinho while at the Nerazzurri.

When asked - after PSG's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night - whether he would be moving back to Italy this summer, Ibrahimovic was non-committal.

"A return to Italy? I have three months left here [at PSG], then we'll see," he told Premium Mediaset.

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring against Chelsea at the Parc des Princes when his 39th-minute free-kick deflected off John Obi Mikel and wrong-footed goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

However, despite missing a great chance to further extend PSG's lead late on, Ibrahimovic and his team-mates will still take a one-goal advantage with them when they travel to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their last-16 tie.

And the frontman will be hoping the Parisians can finish the job in three weeks' time as he looks to win Europe's premier club competition for the first time in his career.
