Italy midfielder Bertolacci excited by AC Milan move from Roma

Andrea Bertolacci is thrilled to have joined AC Milan from Roma.

The Italian midfielder, who was co-owned by Genoa and Roma until the latter bought the player outright last week, has arrived at the San Siro club in a 20million euro transfer deal and is Milan's first summer signing.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Rossoneri.

"I've always said that I wanted to come here," Bertolacci said on AC Milan's official website. "It's a great feeling to have finally arrived and I'm ready.

"My aim was to come here. Milan was always my first choice. I am 24 and I can still improve."

Bertolacci played the past three seasons for Genoa and made a huge impact in 2014-15.

He scored six goals and set up eight more in 34 league appearances.

Genoa finished sixth in Serie A, four places ahead of AC Milan, who will not compete in Europe for a second straight season.

Milan are hoping to bounce back from two disappointing campaigns.

The Rossoneri recently installed Sinisa Mihajlovic as coach.

Mihajlovic spent the last two seasons at Sampdoria and replaced Filippo Inzaghi, who was sacked after just one season in charge.

"It will be what happens on the field to say if we can win the Scudetto next season," Bertolacci said. "I have already spoken to Mihajlovic and he has great enthusiasm to help Milan return to the top.

"I have great confidence in my play after my performances last season.

"This year is going to be very important for us and I will try to give my best to help the club finish as high as possible in the standings."
