Jose wants window closed during season, despite Stones pursuit

Jose Mourinho has admitted he would rather the transfer window be closed during the season despite Chelsea's continued pursuit of John Stones.

Chelsea are preparing a third bid of around £30million for Stones, according to the Daily Telegraph, with Everton apparently fearing they will ultimately lose the defender despite Roberto Martinez's public insistence that he is not for sale.

Mourinho will not get involved in the negotiations, however, as he turns his focus to the start of the new Premier League season.

"What happens happens, but I won't lose any time thinking about the transfer window," he told talkSPORT when asked about the likelihood of Stones moving to Stamford Bridge.

"For me the transfer window is over. I don't like the transfer window open when the competition starts. I know it is open, I know my club can buy or sell, but I don't like that feeling. As a coach I am thinking about my players, my squad, and I don't want to think about transfers. Clubs and players need quiet time and respect when the competiton starts.

"Imagine a Swansea player plays against Chelsea on Saturday and then goes to Manchester City, then he plays against Chelsea again the next week. I cannot get that into my head."
