Leicester City: Claudio Ranieri fearless ahead of Manchester United

Leicester City head to the Theater of Dreams on Saturday as they face off against Manchester United for the first time since losing to them in the Community Shield match.

Since the season opener at Wembley between these two sides both have experienced some highs and lows and now both sit mid-table after a frustrating opening two months of their respected campaigns.

Leicester City head to Manchester United following a mid-week capitulation to Chelsea in the English League Cup that saw the wheels come off in the second half after a promising opening 45 minutes.

Shinji Okazaki had opened the scoring at 17 minutes and then doubled the Foxes lead on 34. However, it would prove to not be enough as the Blues fought back to draw level early on in the second half and then a flurry of Cesc Fabregas goals completed a 2-4 come from behind victory.

Speaking ahead of the Foxes travels this weekend as aired on Leicester City’s official website, Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri claims his side are fearless of the Red Devils and their famous ground:

“We are fearless. Why are we scared to go there? More than lose, what can we do there?
I enjoy – 70,000 people is amazing, fantastic. I don’t want to go when there is just you and me to play. It is a very bad show.

When you go in this big stadium you want to show your best.”

The Foxes have not beaten Manchester United since their famous 5-3 victory over the Red Devils in the opening part of the 2014-15 campaign when the side truly started to show just how resilient they could be.

That season they went on to secure safety in one of the most impressive relegation battles in recent history and we all know just how big of a feat last season’s Premier League title was.

Ranieri knows that the match at Old Trafford is an opportunity for his side to get one over on the current title favorites and can be a spring board to show the rest of the league that they are still ready to fight for their place in the top half this season.
