FRANKFURT, Germany --

Substitute Kevin Kampl scored with his first touch of the ball and Bayer Leverkusen went on to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 to jump to third place in the Bundesliga.

Kampl's spectacular volley broke the deadlock Saturday as Frankfurt fell deeper into relegation trouble.

Leverkusen's win combined with Hertha Berlin's 2-1 loss at Hoffenheim allowed Leverkusen to move past Berlin into third, which guarantees a slot in the Champions League next season.

Werder Bremen earned an important victory in its struggle against relegation by beating Wolfsburg 3-2, Darmstadt defeated Ingolstadt 2-0 and Augsburg edged Stuttgart 1-0.

In the late match, Bayern Munich hosts Schalke.

With four matches remaining, next-to-last Frankfurt is six points from safety and faces an uphill battle to avoid relegation.
