Leverkusen's Bernd Leno made two ridiculous saves with his face
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno doesn’t need to use his hands. He has a face that will do the job just fine.
The Germany international didn’t just make one outstanding save with his face in Leverkusen’s season opener at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday. He made two.
First, Leno’s face denied Gladbach’s Oscar Wendt a surefire goal on a rebound attempt that completed a spectacular double save to keep the score 0-0. Leno was shaken up by the impact and had to be attended to for several minutes, but was able to continue. Which was good for Leverkusen because his face would be needed again.
Just before halftime, Andre Hahn then found himself 1-on-1 with the Leverkusen keeper and decided to go for the chip, but Leno came up with another heads-up play.
Someone get this man some Bayer Aspirin ASAP.
Unfortunately Leno couldn’t stop every shot he faced, and Gladbach eventually won the match, 2-1.
