Liverpool breaking news: Karius set for start against Hull City
Strong reports say that Loris Karius has beaten Simon Mignolet to start this week for Liverpool against Hull City.
When Liverpool confirmed the signing of our Sweet Prince Loris Karius, fans rejoiced as this had to mean the end of Simon Mignolet’s tenure as the first choice keeper at the club.
Unfortunately, a broken hand for Karius meant that the transformation wouldn’t happen on opening day, but it felt inevitable.
Karius returned to fitness and made the bench against Chelsea, before starting and keeping a clean sheet against Derby County. He’s back, he’s fit, he’s ready to go, and he’s won the battle for starting keeper, according to Liverpool Echo.

“Loris Karius has won the battle to be Liverpool’s No 1.,” James Pearce of the Echo wrote. “The ECHO understands that the keepers were informed about Jurgen Klopp’s decision at Melwood on Friday.”
Maybe the battle isn’t 100% over, as Jurgen Klopp spent every waking moment since the win against Derby County being sure to tell everyone that there is no number one at the moment.
“Let’s go through a few different kinds of ways in which we could see it,” Klopp said. “Do we say okay Loris had the game against Derby. Was it a real game for a keeper? Not really so give him a home game for example. What would this mean for Simon? It could mean nothing. We could say there is an international break coming up so give Loris a home game and Swansea away and then both have had the chance to show what they are. It’s not in doubt, it’s not a test.”

Whatever, let’s work under the pretense that Karius is now the undisputed number one because that’s what we want to hear and, in all likelihood, that’s how it seems primed to shape up to be.
