Liverpool: Grujic explains his reaction to Henderson goalazo

Marko Grujic has explained himself on his infamous facial expression after Jordan Henderson’s goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Chelsea.

Before continuing any further, for those who unaware, this is the face being referred to.

Yeah, that glorious face.

“When Jordan first shot, [the ball bent] so far from the goal but then I saw it go in the net and I was shocked – a nice shocked!” Grujic said, via Liverpoolfc.com. “He scored one of the best goals I’ve ever seen in my life. My reaction was the truth and that’s why I made a strange face but it was a nice goal, one of the best I’ve seen.”

Grujic could be announcing his presence on the scene as a great bench guy. Not as in that he’ll never play, but, most prevalent in the NBA, there are just some guys really good when they’re on the bench. Grujic could be football’s version.

Dejan Lovren was quick to jump on it too, poking fun at Grujic.

“I’m still laughing, it was too funny!” Lovren said. “When I saw the video, I asked him straight away why he did that face. He said, ‘I was thinking the ball was over the bar’. It was funny, so after the game we made a quick video with him.”

Thankfully spirits were high in the locker room as Liverpool were able to hold on for a win. I wonder if this image would have blown up as it did had the Reds not prevailed.

At any rate, I’d love to thank the internet for this becoming a thing. I didn’t notice it on the live broadcast, as many wouldn’t have amid the furor of celebrating Henderson’s immaculate goal, but it’s blown up on social media.

See, the internet isn’t all bad after all.
