Liverpool push for deadline day capture of James Rodriguez?
According to the papers, Liverpool are in for a deadline day push to sign Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
It’s deadline day. The sillyest day of the silly season. Let’s kick things off right– by getting caught up in whispers of James Rodriguez to Liverpool!
According to Spanish outlet Sport, (aptly named) (#sports!), Liverpool were looking to bring Real Madrid 2014 Galactico James Rodriguez to Merseyside. He’s not particularly one of Zinedine Zidane’s favorites at the club and has been constantly linked with a move away this summer. Just like Gareth Bale was last summer.
But apparently James is prepared to dig in and fight for his place at Madrid, looking to force Zidane to keep him around.

Liverpool wouldn’t pay the outrageous money to sign James anyway, and if they were to opt for a loan move, they wouldn’t pay his outrageous wages.
But what will they do without another no. 10?!? Even though they are already throwing lineups with four attacking midfielders, one winger and one central midfielder, they could always use another! Like against Arsenal, it was Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and four attacking midfielders: Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Gini Wijnaldum.
Rodriguez burst firmly onto everyone’s radar at the 2014 World Cup when we were still calling him “James” before he corrected us and now everyone knows it’s “Ha-mez”. Power moves only. A Golden Boot at a World Cup will do that.
For Liverpool, they’ll just be stuck with the aforementioned attacking midfielders as well as Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings, Marko Grujic and Sheyi Ojo among others to choose from in attack. It may not be Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Bale, but it’ll do for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Let’s get ready for a wild day of baseless links and unfulfilled hype. And no left backs. Yay deadline day!
