Liverpool's complete FIFA 17 ratings: What they should be

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:51 p.m. ET

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 14: Sadio Mane of Liverpool and team mates celebrate his goal with Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on August 14, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)

It’s about that time for the newest edition of FIFA 17 to be released. Let’s look at what Liverpool’s rating should be.

Alternate reality has been a brilliant place for Liverpool fans in recent years. It’s the only way that fans under the age of 27 have seen Liverpool win the Premier League.

FIFA has been the best place to do so, well right next to Football Manager. But in FIFA you actually get to play with your product rather than just watch it.

Also, FIFA is a brilliant conversation topic when discussing Liverpool. Due to then nature of the beast being that the game needs to quantify every player’s abilities, it’s a never ending argument.

Liverpool are going to be a fun FIFA team, with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and others, there’s no shortage of attacking quality.

As always with the club, it’s dicey looking at the defense but, hey, let’s focus on the fun attacking side of the team.

On each slide, we’ll name the player and give our prediction on what their rating will be on FIFA 17. We’ll also provide the player’s latest FIFA 16 overall on career mode. Any reference made to a player’s Ultimate Team rating will be included and explained on each slide.

WIGAN, ENGLAND – JULY 17: Loris Karius of Liverpool during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Wigan Athletic and Liverpool at JJB Stadium on July 17, 2016 in Wigan, England. (Photo by Nigel Roddis/Getty Images)

GK Loris Karius /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 81 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 80

Ah, Liverpool’s sweet prince. Our night in shining armor to come rescue us from the opprobrious dictatorship ran under Simon Mignolet, full of quizzical facial expressions, standing out of position and flapping at crosses.

That analogy works well on a few levels. In the footballing sense, Liverpool badly needed a new keeper. Karius seems confident, brash and unafraid to claim a cross, as well as being a good shotstopper.

On the superficial level, well, just look at his face and hair. He could absolutely by typecast as a prince in a Hollywood flick.

In FIFA, he got a 80 in last years game meaning making 81 a reasonable expectation this year after being voted second best Bundesliga keeper last year.

GK Alex Manninger /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 69 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 72

Yep, he’s on the squad, he gets a FIFA rating. As anonymous he may be, and while he’ll play a much larger role in real life doing veteran things for the club, he’ll make it into FIFA as the third string keeper at Liverpool.

Manninger was the backup at Augsburg last season and wasn’t retained. He knew he didn’t want his career to end, though he knew his days as a no. 1 were over.

Then he got a phone call and it was Klopp. He admitted never in his wildest dreams did he expect the team interested in him to be a club like Liverpool and he jumped at the opportunity.

Manninger knows he’s likely to never feature at the club, or at least expect to, but he doesn’t care. He’s glad to be here and helping out Karius and the other young keepers, while having one foot towards the backroom staff as a trusted veteran “player”.

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 10: Simon Mignolet of Liverpool looks on following an injury during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield on September 10, 2016 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

GK Simon Mignolet /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 76 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 78

If Simon Mignolet avoids a downgrade then I don’t think anybody deserves to have stats lowered. Following his sloppy performances, I believe Mignolet will see his handling take a hit – if not more of his stats.

His reflex saves and diving has been acceptable, but his overall performances have seen Liverpool leak points. The signing of Loris Karius should see Mignolet take a decrease to make it more evident that he’s the second best goalkeeper at Liverpool.

A rating around 76 would be close to where I’d personally place our Belgian keeper.

BURTON UPON TRENT, ENGLAND – AUGUST 23: Nathaniel Clyne of Liverpool during the EFL Cup match between Burton Albion and Liverpool at Pirelli Stadium on August 23, 2016 in Burton upon Trent, England. (Photo by Gareth Copley/Getty Images)

RB Nathaniel Clyne /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 82 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 80

Good old consistent Clyne currently finds himself as one of Liverpool’s best players on FIFA. With an Ultimate Team rating of 81, the English right-back has served me well online.

His pace allows him to be relevant in the online modes when playing against sweaty opponents who like to exploit the best ways to score in these games.

In career mode, he’s a sure starter for the Liverpool team. Given his strong performances and the impact he has both defensively and going forward, I’d like to see him get a slight upgrade in FIFA 17. I’d like to see Clyne get a rating of at least 82, because I think he’s one of the best right backs in the Premier League.

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 24: Joe Gomez of Liverpool takes on Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal during the Barclays Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on August 24, 2015 in London, United Kingdom. (Photo by Clive Mason/Getty Images)

CB Joe Gomez /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 71 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 68

Joe Gomez is one of my all-time favorite career mode signings. Despite his low rating, he’s a player I always look to pick up in my manager careers.

If I start managing Liverpool, my first few weeks of training becomes dedicated to Joe Gomez. Once he reaches the 70+ ratings, he transforms into an incredible player to use.

Stats wise, he might not look brilliant, but trust me when I say he really performs. His pace, strength and height make for a monster of a player, and when played at left-back he always ends up grabbing me the odd goal.

Defensively, he can catch most players on the ball and he never really struggles to win it back. Joe Gomez hasn’t featured due to injuries, but I believe his performances from early into last season will have earned him at least a slight upgrade.

A rating around 71 would be nice, but I wouldn’t be surprised if EA still give him lower than that.

-Ethan

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 06: Dejan Lovren of Liverpool during the International Champions Cup 2016 match between Liverpool and Barcelona at Wembley Stadium on August 6, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Catherine Ivill – AMA/Getty Images)

CB Dejan Lovren /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 80 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 79

A player who has really turned his Liverpool career around under Jurgen Klopp, Dejan Lovren is underrated on FIFA 16. With an Ultimate Team rating of only 79, Dejan Lovren barely features in the top online Premier League teams.

In FIFA 17 career mode, he’ll be competing with the likes of Mamadou Sakho and Joel Matip for a place in your starting 11 – presuming you don’t sign extra players in that position.

After the headed goals he’s scored for Liverpool (see the Dortmund winner) he surely deserves increased heading stats. His defensive stats are fairly high, but given his strong performances and constant improvements, he deserves a boost.

An overall of 80 would be nice, but I’m hoping for that sweet 81 rating to make him even more useful in my Liverpool career mode.

-Ethan

WIGAN, ENGLAND – JULY 17: Joel Matip of Liverpool during a pre-season friendly between Wigan Athletic and Liverpool at JJB Stadium on July 17, 2016 in Wigan, England. (Photo by Alex Livesey/Getty Images)

CB Joel Matip /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 82 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 81

Our new centre-back is a player that EA already seem to be watching for upgrades. During the lifespan of FIFA 16, he received an upgrade taking his Ultimate Team card from 80 rated up to 81.

His height, defensive ability and impressive physicality will make him a beast on FIFA 17. His movement stats are currently impressive, and using him on FIFA 16 is a wise choice.

With his move to Liverpool, an upgrade could be on the cards for Matip. His on-the-ball stats could receive a boost after he’s been showing his quality when pushing forward.

Overall, I think after an impressive last season and a move to a new club, EA could hand Joel Matip an upgrade making him an 82 rated centre-back. He was upgrade during the course of last game, so they might not touch him again for awhile.

DORTMUND, NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA – APRIL 07: Mamadou Sakho of Liverpool gestures during the UEFA Europa League quarter final first leg match between Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool at Signal Iduna Park on April 7, 2016 in Dortmund, Germany. (Photo by Boris Streubel/Getty Images)

CB Mamadou Sakho /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 81 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 81

What’s gone on with Mamadou Sakho?

Before failing his drug test, that’s since been rescinded as a classic “my bad” from UEFA that’s come with irreparable damage, he had formed a solid partnership with Lovren and finally was emancipated from being overlooked by Brendan Rodgers.

Seriously, there was a time when fans were absolutely clamoring for him to be the starting center back. He was favorite as being the best defender on the books for a while, as recent as last season before Lovren remembered how to play football.

Nowadays, it’s Klopp telling Lovren in no uncertain terms to “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!” and leave on loan because he has no immediate future at Liverpool. Sakho isn’t even in the dog house because that’d insinuate that he made it in Klopp’s backyard. Nope. He’s down the block, in a dumpster somewhere. Way off the map.

In FIFA, Sakho is always a solid choice. He isn’t the tallest, but he’s physical and doesn’t have a catastrophic turn of pace. In fact, it’s pretty decent, decent enough to keep up with attackers in the final third.

LIVERPOOL, UNITED KINGDOM – APRIL 10: Alberto Moreno of Liverpool (18) celebrates as he scores their first goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Stoke City at Anfield on April 10, 2016 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Clive Brunskill/Getty Images)

LB Alberto Moreno /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 77 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 77

Where do I start with Alberto Moreno. Well, its safe to say he’s had a tough time at Liverpool. Severally sloppy performances have seen him fall out of Jurgen Klopp’s team for the moment, and a poor last season left him out of favour with the fans.

While he had a rating of 79 on FIFA 16’s Ultimate Team, his latest career mode rating sits at 77. Everyone following football has heard about how poor Moreno has been, and how much of a liability he can be with his poor positioning.

I currently thing his rating of 77 is fair, because he’s still not one of the worst left-backs in the Premier League. Perhaps a decrease to 76 or even 75 would be too harsh.

I predict Moreno’s rating will remain at 77 on career mode, and that 77 rating will be given to him on Ultimate Team also.

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 06: Emre Can of Liverpool during the International Champions Cup 2016 match between Liverpool and Barcelona at Wembley Stadium on August 6, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Catherine Ivill – AMA/Getty Images)

DM Emre Can /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 80 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 75

Emre Can was egregiously only handed a 75 when FIFA 16 first came out before the winter update. Fans of Liverpool who watched him every game, it was abhorrent. An absolute tragedy.

Can got better and better as the season wore on to the point where he was integral to a Liverpool starting lineup, a place he’s at this year. He’s the only player that can do his job on the roster anywhere near his level.

There are players like Lucas Leiva and Kevin Stewart who can do some of the defensive work, but absolutely nowhere near him going forward.

There are players like Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum who can do the work he  does going forward, but absolutely nowhere near him with defensive work. He’s the total package.

This year in FIFA, he’s got to crack into 80– okay, if not 80 then at least getting really close. He deserves it.

Can is a gem in FIFA, especially manager mode. When he progresses up in the mid 80s, his physical ability combined with his technical ability and (potentially) four star skills. He’s the man. And he’s beautiful. And Liverpool fans love him. As well they should.

VILLARREAL, SPAIN – APRIL 28: Lucas Leiva of Liverpool in action during the UEFA Europa League semi final first leg match between Villarreal CF and Liverpool FC at Estadio El Madrigal stadium on April 28, 2016 in Villarreal, Spain. (Photo by Jean Catuffe/Getty Images)

DM Lucas Leiva /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 78 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 79

With Lucas Leiva seeing a decreasing number of games, I think we’re approaching the point when he starts to fade out of FIFA games. He’s still a useful player in real life, and the odd impressive performance serves Liverpool well, but he isn’t one of the main men anymore.

It’s clear he’s getting older, and he now only really features as a squad player or because of injuries. I think seeing a drop in his already low physical stats (sprint speed ect) could take him down to 78.

To me, 78 seems fair for where I feel Lucas is at the moment.

-Ethan

LIVERPOOL, UNITED KINGDOM – APRIL 10: Kevin Stewart of Liverpool is watched by Geoff Cameron of Stoke City during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Stoke City at Anfield on April 10, 2016 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Clive Brunskill/Getty Images)

DM Kevin Stewart /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 71 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 62

Stewart is a player that just about no one knew of this time last year. He’d come to Liverpool’s academy after being let go from Tottenham and was too old for fans to generate much hype. Plus, like I said, he was let go so that wouldn’t have helped his public stock.

But once an injury crisis hit the club in January, Stewart was recalled from a loan and became a useful squad player. Useful enough to Klopp that he’s been on the bench for every Premier League match this season.

Stewart is a tidy midfielder and it’s unfortunate he won’t play regularly at Liverpool because it’d be interesting to see how that’d go for him at another club.

Last season he was unknown and unproven, thus given a 62. This year he’s got to crack the 70’s.

-Tom

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 06: Marko Grujic of Liverpool watches his header hit the back of the net for his team’s fourth goal during the International Champions Cup match between Liverpool and Barcelona at Wembley Stadium on August 6, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)

CM Marko Grujic /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 74 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR N/A

Grujic is still very much unknown. But he impressed mightily this summer in his first season with the club, scoring in preseason games left, right and center including a brilliant header against Barcelona.

He hasn’t gotten much of a run out yet this season, but that was to be expected and surely according to the plan.

For now, he’ll get a 74 as a young player with potential and see where we go from there.

-Tom

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 10: Jordan Henderson of Liverpool waves to fans during the warm up during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield on September 10, 2016 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

CM Jordan Henderson /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 80 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 79

The Liverpool captain hasn’t enjoyed the best of times. He was out for most of last season due to injuries, and when he did play those problems still nagged away at him. A sore heel prevented him finding form, and as a result Henderson gained some doubters.

So far this season however, he’s returning to form and showing that he still posses the ability we know he has. His passing can be very useful when he’s on point, and his pressing has been strong under Jurgen Klopp.

He’s now occupying a more defensive role, and for that I feel his tackling could see a slight upgrade, along with his movement stats due to all his positive pressing.

His ball control should take a hit however, because that’s what seems to let him down the most. I think an upgrade by one should see Henderson placed at a rating I feel he deserves, with that going up to maybe an 81 if he continues his return to form.

-Ethan

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 27: James Milner of Liverpool celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at White Hart Lane on August 27, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Jan Kruger/Getty Images)

CM James Milner /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 80 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 80

I wonder if he’ll be a central midfielder or left back in the game? After all, he’s played it the young season even though he’s clearly a midfielder.

But this is the same game that shoehorned Can as a central defender when he was clearly a center mid two seasons ago, so he’ll probably be a left back for a bit.

Milner is a brilliant servant and a great player to have in the team.

In FIFA, he’s a player easily brushed over without him having any superior qualities. Jack of all trades, master of none. That doesn’t bode well in FIFA.

Last season he played, well, like James Milner. The 80 rating is perfect for him and that shouldn’t change.

-Tom

LONDON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 06: Georginio Wijnaldum of Liverpool during the International Champions Cup 2016 match between Liverpool and Barcelona at Wembley Stadium on August 6, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images)

CM Georginio Wijnaldum /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 80 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 80

The jury is still out on the Liverpool new boy.

Wijnaldum came from Newcastle with scouting reports saying he’ll add goals from the midfield. While it’s evident his quality, he doesn’t quite fit in the team perfectly yet.

Wijnaldum did his damage at Newcastle while playing as a no. 10. Since moving to Liverpool, he’s been a box-to-box midfielder, keeping him further away from the goal than he’d be accustomed to his career. He plays as a no. 10 for Netherlands as well.

He’ll be a fun player to have in FIFA, but if playing with Liverpool he probably doesn’t crack the first XI.

At any rate, an 80 is a fair rating with certain room to grow.

-Tom

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 14: Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool celebrates scoring his free kick during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on August 14, 2016 in London, England. (Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)

AM Philippe Coutinho /// Confirmed FIFA 17 OVR 85 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 84

There’s no mystery about Coutinho’s rating: FIFA released the Premier League’s top 20 rated players and the Brazilian was the lone Liverpool player on the list and was given an 85.

That feels about right for the magician, who stands as the club’s best player.

Coutinho has the quality to tip games like few in the world can do, which is represented in the 85 that was brandished to him.

In the game, his dribbling will be second to none thanks to his ball control, 4 star skills and brilliant agility. The game recognizes how quickly he can shift directions while keeping the ball tied to his foot.

The fact that he wasn’t towards the bottom wrung of the game’s top 50 in general feels a bit harsh. Coutinho is of the same ilk of many players in that nether region of the overall top 50, but misses out to others on pedigree and longevity.

At 24 years old Coutinho is only going to get better and FIFA is no exception. Let’s hope it’s in a red shirt.

SANTA CLARA, CA – JULY 30: Roberto Firmino of Liverpool FC celebrates a goal during the International Champions Cup match against AC Milan at Levi’s Stadium on July 30, 2016 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images)

AM Roberto Firmino /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 84 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 82

A slow first half of his debut’s season on Merseyside, Firmino more than made up for it during the second half of the season.

From January on, Firmino was consistently one of Liverpool’s best attacking players every single game, quietly consistent.

This season, Firmino has picked up exactly where he left off and he got his first goals of the Premier League campaign in Liverpool’s 4-1 drubbing of Leicester City.

On FIFA, Firmino takes some appreciation. By that I mean is that he doesn’t have blistering pace, so if you’re an exclusive pace merchant, there’s better options to be had.

But Firmino’s combination of dribbling and shooting makes him a brilliant player to have, and if he is rewarded with an 84 then he’ll be that much better.

-Tom

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 10: Adam Lallana of Liverpool celebrates scoring his sides third goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield on September 10, 2016 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

AM Adam Lallana /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 81 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 80

Scoring his first England goal not long before the release of the new FIFA game, Adam Lallana is still showing improvement. He’s adding goals to his game, and under Klopp his pressing has developed massively.

I think his performances over the past few months should grant him an upgrade when FIFA 17 releases, and if EA have been paying attention to more recent games his finishing should receive a boost too.

An overall of 81 would be great for Lallana. He’s a player I loved using in FIFA 16, and I think he could be a real gem if he receives a boost in FIFA 17.

AM Sadio Mane /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 82 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 78

What a signing Mane’s been for Liverpool. A perfect addition to the team, worth every penny thus far and more.

If the add-on’s are met, the deal to sign Mane will be worth £36million. That’s a lot but it’s also a club record. This means we get to hear “record signing Sadio Mane, what a success he’s been…” rather than “record signing Andy Carroll…” So that’s nice too.

FIFA almost certainly won’t give him a +4 this season, but he’s worth it. And they’ll have to adjust in the winter update if they don’t if his early season form is anything to go off.

Mane took strides in his development at the end of last season for Southampton where he was consistent, then has jumped a few levels since joining Liverpool.

Irrespective of his overall, he’s going to be an absolute menace with his pace and dribbling.

SWANSEA, WALES – MAY 01: Liverpool player Sheyi Ojo in action during the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Liverpool at The Liberty Stadium on May 1, 2016 in Swansea, Wales. (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)

AM Sheyi Ojo /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 70 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 63

Of all the Liverpool youngsters, Sheyi Ojo is the one that has impressed me the most. Jurgen Klopp seems pretty keen on the winger too, handing him a variety of chances in cup games and the league last season.

With a FIFA 16 rating as low as 62 (on Ultimate Team), Sheyi Ojo has certainly proved he deserves a hefty upgrade.

For a start, he only has 79 acceleration and 73 sprint speed in FIFA 16. If EA have watched a minute of Ojo on the ball, they’ll be sure to bump those stats right up. I’m not sure he deserves 90’s, but perhaps something around the 85 mark for sprint speed with a slightly higher acceleration would be right on the money.

Ojo has also shown his dribbling capabilities surpass that which EA have given his in-game player. With improved pace, dribbling and shooting (please see that left-foot beauty against Exeter City) I’m sure Sheyi Ojo will be given a rating around the 70 mark.

With that increase, he’ll be a silver card on Ultimate Team, ranked one less than Jordon Ibe was at the end of FIFA 16. This increase would certainly make him more useful in career mode, and his growth in that mode could be very interesting.

WEST BROMWICH, ENGLAND – MAY 15: Danny Ings of Liverpool looks on prior to the Barclays Premier League match between West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool at The Hawthorns on May 15, 2016 in West Bromwich, England. (Photo by James Baylis – AMA/WBA FC via Getty Images)

ST Danny Ings /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 76 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 76

Ings is a tough one to decide. After missing most of the season with an ACL injury, keeping the status quo is likely the way to go.

But where does he fit in at Liverpool? He’s hardly even making the bench, and hasn’t when most players are fit. Klopp continues to say he rates Ings and has a place for him in the team, but the striker must grow frustrated with the lack of opportunities at Liverpool.

Being young, Ings needs to play.

In FIFA, he’s fairly bland. He has a decent turn of pace, but nothing out of the ordinary. He’s also got decent finishing, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. He’ll be a player regularly looked over in FIFA, just like he has in real life this season.

DORTMUND, GERMANY – APRIL 07: Divock Origi of Liverpool celebrates his goal during the UEFA Europa League quarter final first leg match between Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC at Signal Iduna Park aka Westfalenstadion on April 7, 2016 in Dortmund, Germany. (Photo by Jean Catuffe/Getty Images)

ST Divock Origi /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 78 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 76

One of the most exciting players last season, Divock Origi showed a huge improvement under Jurgen Klopp. He managed to add goals to his game, and looks to be one of Liverpool’s best forwards.

His pace and dribbling makes him useful in FIFA 16, and he already has the room to grow. In the new FIFA, I fully expect EA to give Origi an upgrade.

With his positive movement, clever dribbling and the increasing number of goals, Divock Origi certainly deserves an overall boost. I think an overall somewhere around the 78/79 mark would be fair for Origi, with the majority of the stat upgrades being in his shooting and dribbling.

This would make him a quality second-choice striker for me in career mode, and maybe he’d be used more often in Ultimate Team.

BASEL, SWITZERLAND – MAY 18: Daniel Sturridge (R) of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team’s first goal with his team mate Philippe Coutinho (L) during the UEFA Europa League Final match between Liverpool and Sevilla at St. Jakob-Park on May 18, 2016 in Basel, Switzerland. (Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images)

ST Daniel Sturridge /// Predicted FIFA 17 OVR 83 /// Latest FIFA 16 OVR 83

Daniel Sturridge looks to be enjoying better times in a Liverpool shirt, but that’s only because he’s managing to stay fit.

Since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool, maintaining the fitness of Daniel Sturridge has been a major goal. Now, the England international seems to be injury free, so why isn’t he getting played that often?

Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi have been involved more than Daniel Sturridge in the past months, due to his injuries and the fact that Klopp seems keen to ease Daniel back into the team.

From what we’ve seen, Sturridge has still got it. Have we seen anything suggesting he deserves a downgrade? Not really. Have we seen anything spectacular that would provoke an upgrade? Again, not really.

I see Daniel Sturridge maintaining his 83 rating, because he hasn’t had a consistent enough run of games to really prove he warrants anything higher.
