Luis Suarez to sign extension with Barcelona through 2021
Luis Suarez has agreed to spend four more seasons at Camp Nou, as he will sign an extension that will keep him at Barcelona through June 30, 2021, on Friday, the club announced.
Barcelona has set his buyout clause at €200 million. In 116 matches with the club, he's scored 97 goals, including 40 in La Liga last season, earning Pichichi (golden boot) honors for the most goals in the league. He's meshed well with fellow South American stars Lionel Messi and Neymar, forming the most dynamic attacking trident in the game, and he's helped the club to eight trophies since arriving from Liverpool in 2014.
Neymar is also signed through 2021, with the Brazilian inking his new deal in October, while the club has been vocal about getting another extension done with Messi, to keep the club's prized players for the long term.
This season, Suarez has 10 goals in 14 league games and another three in cup competitions.
