Manchester United fan gets dying wish from team just before he passes
Lifelong Manchester United fan Paddy Lawler, a 73-year-old granddad from Wythenshawe, Manchester, had told his family he would love to meet some of his favourite Red Devils before he passed on so his granddaughter Kayleigh, went to Facebook in hopes that someone would be able to make his dream come true. Her post was shared over and over, and ended up getting spotted by United winger Jesse Lingaard's cousin.
And they kept their word. Wythenshawe’s own golden boy Marcus Rashford and fellow players Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young and Timothy Fosu-Mensah all showed up at Lawler's house. The four players posed for pictures with Patrick (who was of course wearing his United shirt) and stayed to sign autographs.
That's all the loyal United supporter needed to go home peacefully. Just 45 minutes after the players left, Paddy succumbed to his battle with prostate cancer.
Kayleigh later posted to Facebook: “Top lads, all four of them. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. Sure my grandad’s over the moon.”
