SEATTLE - Midfielder Marco Pappa has been cleared to rejoin the Seattle Sounders after complying with Major League Soccer's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program following his arrest for investigation of driving under the influence.

The Sounders announced Pappa's reinstatement on Wednesday. General manager Garth Lagerway says in a statement that Pappa has completed the steps necessary to reach this point and the organization will continue to support him. Lagerway said there would be no further comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings.

Pappa was arrested on DUI charges on July 19. He was banned from playing games with the club until he completed the league-mandated program. Pappa has two goals and five assists in 16 MLS games for Seattle this season.
