Mexico's news satire 'El Deforma' takes aim at Javier Hernandez's injury, club situation
It's been a rough week for Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.
During Mexico's goalless draw against Honduras this week, Hernandez suffered an unfortunate injury to his left collarbone which will rule him out of the 2015 Gold Cup tournament. The injury comes at an inopportune time for Hernandez, who's club future with Manchester United is in doubt after his brief loan spell with Real Madrid earlier this year.
Mexico's news satire El Deforma, decided to take aim at Chicharito in a comical article that revolves around Chicharito's injury and his playing status as a bench-warmer, or "super sub."
El Deforma's article details how Hernandez was taken to a hospital in Houston after suffering his injury and chronicles how Chicharito continues to sit on the bench while waiting his turn due to the high volume of patients, similar to his playing situation at Manchester United and Real Madrid, respectively.
El Deforma's article adds:
Chicharito stood up from the bench to check in, but both instances turned out to be false alarms and he had to return to the bench. Despite the adversity, Chicharito states that he does not feel desperate or concerned, and he believes that in any moment, the doctor will call on him, and he will take full advantage of his time to film commercials and tweet romantic messages to his girlfriend.
Now that's got to hurt.
No hard feelings, Chicharito. You're still a world class soccer player.
