Mourinho tells Pogba to forget his price tag and show his quality
Paul Pogba joined Manchester United for a world record fee of £89m from Juventus in the summer. He has yet to spark into life at United, and people have been quick to criticize him.
Jose Mourinho wants his world record signing Paul Pogba to forget about his price tag and just play his football. Manchester United re-signed the French midfielder this summer for £89m, after he left them four years ago in search of regular football.
Pogba played for France in the Euro 2016 earlier this summer, where his side reached the final. Due to that he could not get a proper pre season. Transfer negotiations between Juventus and Manchester United further meant that he could not train properly until his signing was confirmed on 8th August, just six days before the start of the new season.
Yet he showed some great quality in his first game of the season against Southampton, where he was the highest rated player, according to statistics website WhoScored. He showed more glimpses of his quality in his second game, against Hull City. He may have had a drop in form in the last two games, but people must not forget his quality, and his potential.
Jose Mourinho said that he still trusts Pogba. The Manchester United manager added, “The world-record player is always a question but I want Paul to forget that. He played in the Euro final, went on holiday, then had no pre-season. It is normal after the first game he has a little decrease. But I am full of trust because I know he is a good guy with a lot of ambition so the form will come naturally.”
So people must give Pogba a chance to prove himself before judging him. They should remember that the Frenchman is only 23, and he is already one of the best midfielders in the world, and he will only improve at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
