New England Revolution Pick up Massive Three Points Against NYCFC
The New England Revolution won a huge match on Saturday night as they continue to try and stay in playoff contention.
Two goals in the first half paved the way for what proved to be a big win for the home side. It wasn’t the best match we’ve seen out of NYCFC this season, but nevertheless it was still a good performance for a club that needs points. The New England Revolution played exceptional in this one.
How it Happened
Juan Agudelo finished the first goal of the match in the 21st minute when he curled a ball into the upper right corner of the net. The forward has now scored in his last two appearances. Lee Nguyen doubled the advantage right before halftime to give his side some cushion heading into the second half. He collected a Kelyn Rowe pass and dispatched it for his sixth goal of the season.
New York City F.C. struck back in the opening minutes of the second half with Frank Lampard recording the goal. R.J. Allen’s pass found the midfielder and he finished it first time. The Englishman increased his season total to 12 goals with his tally.
Less than ten minutes Diego Fagundez finished the Revolution’s third of the night to put them up 3-1. Juan Agudelo recorded the assist on the Uruguayan’s 4th MLS goal of the season.
A late red card to Federico Bravo for a reckless challenge was another sour note for NYCFC as they finished the final minutes a man down. As a result the away side was unable to produce a comeback and it finished 3-1.
