Newcastle United to sell Sissoko to Everton

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

It’s almost finished. Newcastle United wantaway midfielder Moussa Sissoko is set for a medical at Everton as both clubs agree on a £30m fee.

This makes Moussa Sissoko the most expensive player sold by Newcastle United, and one of the most expensive purchases by Everton in club history. It’s also the end of a saga with Sissoko doing everything in his power to push for a move.

It’s big news because not only does Newcastle United get what they want out of it, but Sissoko’s wages are gone. Newcastle have done well without Sissoko, and now have the money to continue to boost their squad towards success in the coming transfer window in January.

The problems of having a player who is talented but does not work as hard on the pitch is Everton’s problem now.

The news comes from Sky Sports, who are reporting that Everton are prepared to pay the £30m fee. This comes in spite of reports stating that Sissoko was in London for a medical. All that’s left is for Sissoko to put pen to paper for the Merseyside club, and his time at Newcastle United will be over.

I’ll miss Sissoko at his best. I won’t miss him at his worst. And for the majority of his career at Newcastle, it was Sissoko not wanting to try. Everton is going to either realize this very quickly, or get the player that Newcastle fans have been dying to see.

No longer does Sissoko deserve the love and respect of the fans because his attitude towards the club was snobbish. Everton had issues last season that hopefully Ronald Koeman can solve, if not, they’re going to find themselves in a similar situation with Sissoko. A whiner who wants top football without earning it in a team environment.

    Adios Moussa.
