Newcastle United's Loss is no big Deal
People are blowing Newcastle United’s loss out of proportion. For me, it’s a loss, nothing more, nothing less.
Let’s stop worrying about the loss against Wolverhampton. Every team has a chance to win, no matter what. Newcastle United was defeated when it came to chances being taken. Despite dominating possession and corners, Newcastle United just got beat.
People are calling the loss the downfall of the club in the Championship, and that Wolverhampton dismantled a giant. Need we be reminded that even the greatest of clubs lose against the worst of teams? Wolverhampton played a strong match, there is no denying.
More from Newcastle Toons
If you expected Newcastle United to continue their winning streak all the way to the end of the season, then you were sadly mistaken. I thought that Newcastle would have no problem with Wolverhampton, but oftentimes, I can be wrong.
There were minimal changes to the club’s lineup, and Rafa Benitez relied on the majority of the same players he has relied over the past few weeks. Is it too much to say that we were beaten by the better team this week?
There were a few players that just did not perform too well, and it may have contributed to the overall result of the match. Maybe leaving out Yoan Gouffran in the starting lineup hurt some of the club’s offense, but not as much as some would have you believe.
The club took few chances despite dominating possession, and they never really provided the strong amount of offense provided in the past few matches.

My message to those who are criticizing the club’s loss is to take a chill pill, relax, and realize that it’s not the end of the world. Still sitting in third place is Newcastle United, and while we would like to win the Championship, promotion is the lone goal.
