Newly-promoted La Liga club Las Palmas fire coach

MADRID -- Newly-promoted Spanish club Las Palmas have fired coach Paco Herrera after struggling following their return to the first division.

The Canary Islands team have won one match in eight rounds and sit second from bottom in La Liga.

Herrera helped Las Palmas earn promotion last season following a 13-year absence from the topflight.

He is the first coach to be fired in La Liga this season.

Las Palmas has yet to name his successor.
