NEW YORK (AP) — Jesus Medina scored two second-half goals, the second on a penalty kick late in extra time, and New York City FC vaulted into the Eastern Conference lead with a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

NYCFC (15-5-8) moved past Philadelphia in the conference standings.

New England (10-10-9) took the lead in the second minute on Juan Fernando Calcedo's goal and went a man down in the ninth, but New York City couldn't capitalize until Medina scored in the 70th minute.

It appeared the Revolution would steal a point on the road until Andrew Farrell took down Alexandru Mitrita in the box. The PK call, six minutes into stoppage time, was made after review and was the second review to go against New England. Antonio Milnar Delamea was sent off in the ninth minute for denial of an obvious scoring opportunity.

Nick DeLeon rifled home a low volley to double the advantage in the 21st minute, and Delgado headed home an entry by Alejandro Pozuelo to give Toronto a 3-0 lead in the 28th. Michael Bradley scored in the 63rd minute, and Nicolas Benezet made it 5-0 in the 85th. Emmanuel Ledesma scored for Cincinnati in stoppage time.

TIMBERS 2, SPORTING KANSAS CITY 1

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Late goals from Brian Fernandez and Jeremy Ebobisse led Portland to a comeback win.

In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Portland's Diego Valeri chipped a ball across the face of goal and Fernandez ran to the opposite post to head it in.

Ebobisse equalized for the Timbers in the 83rd minute on a quick counter-attack. Diego Chara crossed the ball in front of goal and Ebobisse redirected it into the goal past goalkeeper Tim Melia.

With the win, the Timbers (12-11-4) move into seventh place and the last playoff spot in the Western Conference standings. Just nine points separate the second-place Seattle Sounders and ninth-place Sporting Kansas City (10-12-7) with one month left in regular season.

Sporting Kansas City struck first in the 65th minute on a beautiful long-range effort from Benny Feilhaber. From outside the penalty box along the right sideline, he fired a blast that curved inside the opposite post of the goal and out of the reach of goalkeeper Steve Clark.
