Orlando City Move Into Playoff Spot with Win Over Montreal
Orlando City came away with a big win on the road as they comfortably defeated the Montreal Impact.
A complete team performance led to a big win for Orlando City on Wednesday night. The club has now taken eight points from their last five matches to move into sixth place in the Eastern Conference, which puts them into the final playoff spot.
How it Happened
It was a hot start to this one as two goals came in the opening five minutes of the match. Didier Drogba found the back of the net in the second minute when his free kick was knocked in by Joe Bendik. Just two minutes later Brek Shea equalized when he slotted home from a few yards out.
In the 36th minute the deadlock was broken by Kaka. The Brazilian finished a pass from Carlos Rivas to record his seventh goal of the season. The Impact pressed on in search of an equalizer and Drogba nearly tied the match in the 39th minute. Bendik came up with the huge save to deny the Ivorian striker.

Just six minutes into the second half the Impact were dealt a blow when goalkeeper Evan Bush was sent off. Rivas was brought down by the American keeper. Kaka stepped up and dispatched the penalty to put his side up 3-1.
A huge opportunity for the Impact to get back into the match came in the 69th minute. Matteo Mancosu got tangled with defender David Mateos and the referee pointed to the spot. Drogba’s ensuing penalty attempt was saved by Bendik as he came up with yet another huge save.
