Philadelphia beats Montreal 3-0 for 4th win in 5 games

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Cory Burke and Jamiro Monteiro scored in the Philadelphia Union's 3-0 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Philadelphia (4-3-1) has won four of its last five games.

Burke blasted a roller from outside the area just inside the far post to open the scoring in the 14th minute Monteiro, on loan from FC Metz through June, converted from the spot in the 45th for his first MLS goal. Alejandro Bedoya tapped in an empty-netter in the 57th minute.

Montreal (3-3-2) conceded a goal for the first time since a 7-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City on March 30.

FC DALLAS 2, ATLANTA UNITED 1

ATLANTA (AP) — Jesús Ferreira scored for the third time in four games and Jesse Gonzalez had seven saves in FC Dallas' victory over Atlanta.

Ferreira, an 18-year-old homegrown, opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Michael Barrios made it 2-0 in the 84th. Atlanta's Josef Martinez converted from the spot in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

Gonzalez, a 23-year-old homegrown, had diving stops in the 68th and 82nd minutes for FC Dallas (5-2-1).

Atlanta United (1-3-2) had its 12-game home unbeaten streak snapped.

TIMBERS 3, CREW 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Larrys Mabiala and Jeremy Ebobisse scored in the first half and Portland beat Columbus to snap a five-game losing streak.

Mabiala headed home Diego Valeri's free kick to open the scoring for the Timbers (1-5-1) in the 31st minute. Ebobisse doubled Portland's lead four minutes later.

Pedro Santos pulled the Crew (4-3-1) to 2-1 in the 69th minute. Jorge Moreira capped the scoring in second-half stoppage time.

REVOLUTION 1, RED BULLS 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Cristian Penilla scored in the 73rd minute to help New England beat New York.

Penilla ran onto a perfectly weighted ball from Juan Fernando Caicedo and slotted it past goalkeeper Luis Robles from a narrow angle.

Cody Cropper had five saves in his fourth start this year and the Revs (2-5-1) had their first clean sheet of the season. New England had lost five of its last six. The Red Bulls (1-4-2) are winless in five games, losing four over that span.

FIRE 4, RAPIDS 1

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) — C.J. Sapong, Aleksandar Katai, Nemanja Nikolic and Djordje Mihailovic scored to help Chicago hand winless Colorado its fifth straight loss.

Sapong scored from for point-blank range to give the Fire (2-2-3) a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute.

Kei Kamara scored for Colorado (0-6-2).

EARTH QUAKES 4, SPORTING KC 1

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Danny Hoesen scored twice in the first 12 minutes in San Jose's victory over Sporting Kansas City 4-1.

Hoesen opened the scoring in the sixth minute, settling Aníbal Godoy's long pass between a pair of defenders and slipping past them for a close-range finish. Six minutes later, Hoesen broke free on Jackson Yueill's pass and slotted home a right-footed shot.

Shea Salinas and Magnus Eriksson also scored for the Earthquakes (2-5-0).

Felipe Gutiérrez scored for Sporting KC (2-2-3).

ORLANDO CITY 1, WHITECAPS 0

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Luís Carlos "Nani" Almeida da Cunha scored in the 88th minute to lift Orlando City past Vancouver.

Sacha Kljestan came on for Will Johnson in the 76th minute and first-timed a cross by Ruan Carlos Gomes Costa da Silva that deflected off Nani for the lone goal.

Orlando City (3-3-2) outshot Vancouver (1-5-2) 16-6 and had 60.6% possession.
