Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta is confident that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba would be open to a move to Camp Nou.

The 22-year-old France international is the subject of intense interest from elite clubs around Europe this summer, it is understood that Manchester City are prepared to make a world-record bid for his services while the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also in the hunt.

Barca are among the teams linked and Laporta, looking to earn a second spell at the head of the club, believes that a deal could be done.

"Pogba would be a great signing," he told Catalunya Radio.

"He really is a very strong player. He is still young and has the desire to join Barcelona.

"I have a great relationship with his agent, Mino Raiola. If we decide to try to sign Pogba, he will definitely be a great intermediary."

Laporta faces competition from current boss Josep Bartomeu as well as Jordi Majo and Agusto Benedito in the race for the Barcelona presidency.
