Real Sociedad give job to homeless man sleeping outside stadium
Real Sociedad have helped out a homeless man who has been sleeping outside of the stadium, offering the 35-year-old man known only as 'Ruben' a job doing maintenance for the Spanish club.
It's a two-month contract to work maintenance at the Anoeta Stadium for Ruben, who has been camped outside one of the ticket gates with his dog, Mundo, for eight months. The two-month contract can be extended if Ruben is able to fulfill his duties, though.
"I no longer believed that there such nice people existed," Ruben told 'Los Lunes al Gol,' via Marca. "After so many tough blows you begin to lose hope."
Fans and community members had been helping Ruben out with clothes and food, but he still wasn't able to find a roof over his head. With Real Sociedad stepping up to give him a job, it sounds like that will no longer be the case.
Soccer teams are often thought of as not just clubs, but actual members of the communities that they're in. Real Sociedad's compassion definitely shows that. We're rooting for you, Ruben and Mundo!
