Roma confirm club are interested in signing Man City striker Dzeko

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has confirmed the club are trying to sign Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The 29-year-old is among the players who City are looking to offload this summer, although it is understood that he will not force a move away from the club.

And while Sabatini has revealed Roma's interest, he concedes the Serie A side are still far away from agreeing a deal with City.

"Dzeko is not very close, but Roma are trying to get him," Sabatini told reporters at a 'Football Fest' event in Perugia on Friday evening. "He's the right man for us, but tough to get, as he's expensive."

Regarding possible outgoings, Sabatini has ruled out Gervinho leaving the club despite reports of a €14 million bid from Al Jazira being accepted.

He added: "No [Gervinho does not want to leave]. He changed his mind and wants to stay with us now."
