San Jose Extend Their Unbeaten Streak Against Colorado After A Draw
The San Jose Earthquakes stifled the Colorado Rapids in a 0-0 draw that had each team walk away with a point.
The San Jose Earthquakes traveled to Colorado Saturday looking to keep pace in the MLS Western Conference playoff race against the Rapids. Before their match Saturday San Jose was on a 13 game unbeaten streak against the Colorado Rapids. San Jose was able to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games and come away with 1 point in a 0-0 draw against a good Colorado squad.
The early part of the first half consisted of both teams trying to get into the flow of the game. There were only a few attacking chances from both teams. Colorado Rapids midfielder Marlon Hairston almost put the Rapids on top in the 15th minute after he got in behind the San Jose defense and saw his shot barely go wide.
Colorado came close to scoring again in the 23rd minute after Rapids forward Dominique Badji had a one on one with Quakes keeper David Bingham but Bingham did well to close off Badji’s space and forced the Colorado forward to send his shot wide.

The Earthquakes came extremely close to scoring in the 42nd minute as the ball was crossed into the box to Chris Wondolowski as Wondolowski then proceeded to head the ball down to Fatai Alashe who volleyed the ball towards the net but Colorado keeper Tim Howard made an outstanding save keeping the 0-0 draw intact.
The early part of the second half was much like the first, both teams looking to control the ball and very little scoring chances. David Bingham’s services would be needed once again in the 68th minute as Dominique Badji found himself alone in the box once again but Bingham closed off Badji’s angles to shoot which forced the forward to shoot it right into Bingham’s legs.
Quincy Amarikwa came into the match in the second half and almost scored the first goal of the match late in the half but the effort was saved by Tim Howard.

This was a match where the defenders and goalkeepers shined. Both teams did well in the back-end. San Jose should be happy with the result since they picked up a point on the road and now sit only 4 points back of 6th place Portland.
