MADRID (AP) Pelayo Novo, a midfielder for second-division Spanish club Albacete, was seriously injured after falling from the third floor of his team's hotel on Saturday.

The club said the Spaniard was in stable condition following the ''stunning'' accident in the northeastern city of Huesca.

Other details were not immediately made available.

Local media said Novo remained in an intensive care unit but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Reports said Novo fell into an open space in an interior area of the hotel, apparently while leaning on a railing and using his phone.

The team was at the hotel ahead of its match against Huesca later Saturday.

The Spanish league postponed the game.
