That time Landon Donovan, Bob Bradley were asked about Michael Jackson's death

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

A little more than seven years ago, Landon Donovan and Bob Bradley sat at a table in South Africa, answering questions ahead of the USA's Confederations Cup final against Brazil. It was a momentous occasion for the U.S. men's national team, which had never made it to the final of a FIFA competition, and a real foundation builder for Bradley's 2010 World Cup team, which won its group before bowing out in the round of 16. So, naturally, Donovan and Bradley were asked about Michael Jackson.

The pop culture and music icon had just passed away, and members of the international media wondered how it would impact the U.S. men against the Seleção and if they had any tribute planned.

What resulted was some curious looks, hilarious facial tells and impressively measured responses at one of the oddest press conferences ever.
