While Manchester City pauses for the international break and the end of the transfer window, a recap of how two other City brand clubs are doing.

New York City FC

In a rain soaked Orlando, New York City FC fell 2-1. Former FIFA Player of the Year Kaka scored twice to put the home side ahead and took all three points. The two clubs are forever linked after both entering the MLS at the same time, last season. Additionally, new Orlando coach Jason Kreis was the manager at NYCFC when Manchester City started the club.

Despite the road loss NYCFC still sit second in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Toronto. For a club that failed to make the playoffs last year, they have seen a massive turn of fortune under new manager Patrick Viera.

Ahead of the next home match this Thursday against DC United the club will honor Frank Lampard. On August 13th against the Columbus Crew he scored his 300th club goal.

This past weekend the City Women won 2-0 over Reading to continue their title march. The game was the club’s 13th this season and saw them move 10 points clear of 2nd place Chelsea. Both Jennifer Beattie and Steph Houghton scored, in an affair that City dominated. The team has now had 13 different goal scorers during this dominating season.

This coming Sunday the team will face Arsenal Ladies who currently sit third in the league. The two clubs will be facing off in the  Continental Tyres Cup semi-final. Manchester City is only 5 positive matches away from pulling the title and cup double.
