This incredible Lorenzo Insigne goal completely stunned Real Madrid
If Napoli were supposed to be starstruck by the lights of the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, nobody told Lorenzo Insigne. The 25-year-old Italian added a goal to his highlight reel in the early going of Napoli's Champions League tie against Real Madrid.
Insigne latched onto a threaded through ball from Marek Hamsik and took aim from roughly 35 yards out. The diminutive winger made no mistake.
The one-timed effort seemingly caught everyone by surprise, especially Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas. With Navas off of his line, Insigne spun a low, curling effort into the Real Madrid net in the 8th minute.
Just like that, Napoli were up with a precious away goal in the first leg of their round of 16 tie against the defending champions. Real Madrid had a handful of early opportunities kept out but found their equalizer in the 18th minute via Karim Benzema.
To say the early going of the match was frenetic would be a massive understatement. Of course, given the proficiency of these two offenses, the goals were going to be coming. We just didn't know we'd be getting goals like Insigne's pearler.
