Tim Ream Coming Back to Major League Soccer?
Could former New York Red Bulls’ defender, Tim Ream, be coming back to Major League Soccer after the past few seasons in England?
A recent rumor from MLS Transfers via Twitter, has linked Tim Ream with a move back to Major League Soccer. The tweet said “@KristianRDyer,league source: Tim Ream may be a possibility back to MLS sooner rather than later. Not surprising with his standing at Fulham.” If this is true, the United States international could be heading stateside soon.
Ream has only appeared in two Championship League games this season. Both of those caps have been as a substitute in the final minutes of the match. He has started and played the full 90 in two EFL Cup games.
Tim has been a solid center back and left back throughout his career in both Major League Soccer and in England. He was originally selected in the second round by the New York Red Bulls in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He played in 58 matches for New York between 2010-2011 before being dealt by the team.

He joined Bolton Wonderers in 2012 after $2.5 million bid was accepted. Ream has played in England ever since making the move. Now that he is no longer being selected in the Starting XI, a move to MLS could be best for the 28-year old defender.
Tim has made over 20 caps for the United States Men’s National Team since 2010 but has missed out on major tournaments with the squad. He last appeared for his national team in May 2016 in a friendly against Puerto Rico. His lack of matches with his club team could be the reason why Ream was left off of the latest World Cup Qualifying roster by Jurgen Klinsmann.
The St. Louis, Missouri native would be a perfect fit back in Major League Soccer. His defensive experience and ability would easily make him one of the top defenders in the league. It will be interesting to see if he does in fact make the move back to MLS and to which team.

Plenty of clubs in MLS could use Ream’s skill set in their backline. The move would likely guarantee him regular playing time in the Starting XI. That would allow him to get back into the national team picture. It seems as if it is only a matter of time before Tim makes the move back to Major League Soccer.
