Tommy McNamara got angry and scored a cracker in the NY Derby

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:59 p.m. ET

Tommy McNamara's piledriver just before halftime made this Hudson River Derby possibly, maybe, if we're lucky, a real contest. But, really the important takeaway here is just how fed up Tommy Mac is.

Down 3-0 to their city rivals, Tommy McNamara was sick of this. He was fed up with the heat, fed up with New York City FC's defending, and fed up with the New York Red Bulls' entire existence.

So McNamara cut infield and unleashed all of his frustration directly on the poor, unsuspecting adidas spheroid, expelling it from his presence with extreme violence, and refusing to even acknowledge goalkeeper Luis Robles' desire to spend time with the ball. Such a pure strike from a man with such malicious intentions.

Tommy Mac's so fed up, he didn't even celebrate what might be one of this season's best goals. This man is angrier than a teenager who just got his cell phone taken away. He's more pissed off than Ronaldo when he tans unevenly. The only people more upset than Tommy Mac may be the guys burning Gonzalo Higuain's jersey in Naples right now.

And I respect it. No need for celebration when you're getting smacked in the mouth by a rival. Just be angry. And maybe score a couple more crackers.
