Tottenham vs. Sunderland prediction: Solid Spurs win

Tottenham will get some revenge today

It’s no secret that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino isn’t happy about the way Spurs played against Monaco on Wednesday. As a result, the Argentine boss will be expecting an inspired effort from his squad against Sunderland today.

The Black Cats, on the other hand, will arrive at White Hart Lane with troubles of their own. David Moyes’ squad hasn’t exactly lit the Premier League on fire this season. Even scrapping for a point in the match would be progress for his squad.

Expect the home side to come out with a serious edge in the match. In fact, if Tottenham get a goal in the early moments of the contest, it could turn into an avalanche. Sunderland will need to do everything they can to weather the initial storm.

I’d expect Tottenham to come close, but ultimately fail to find the back of the net in the first 15 minutes. After that, Sunderland might even be able to grow into the match a little bit.

Then Tottenham’s attack will get their second win. They’ll get a goal sometime a little after the half hour mark. Once that happens, Sunderland will be forced to chase the game. That won’t go well for the Black Cats.

Once Tottenham smell blood in the water, Pochettino’s attack will really start to swarm. They may not completely explode for four or five goals, but they will get a comfortable victory. If you’re inclined to bet on football, take Spurs to win by at least two goals. There’s also a very strong possibility of Spurs keeping a clean sheet, although a cheeky late match goal by Jermaine Defoe won’t exactly shock me.

Either way, expect Tottenham to get back on the right track, and for Sunderland to go home with even more questions about their club.
