Trent Alexander-Arnold says he's learning from the best at Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold believes that Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne is the best fullback in the league and is sponging in any information he can.
Liverpool’s 17 year old starlet Trent Alexander-Arnold first put his imprint on the mind of fans in preseason ahead of last year. The casual fans hadn’t heard much about him, even ardent supporters were forgiven had they not known who the name on the team sheet was.
Alexander-Arnold continued his ascension this summer, rejoining the squad for preseason and is in the crop of academy kids who are next to break into the first team. He trains with Jurgen Klopp’s team regularly and when he’s there, he takes anything he can off Nathaniel Clyne, someone Alexander-Arnold views as the best right fullback in the league.
“I’m trying to watch him and learn how good he is because he’s probably the best right-back in the league for me, defensively and going forward,” Alexander-Arnold said, via Liverpool Echo. “He’s so consistent in everything he does. I want to still play the way I play but if I can learn things from him then I’ll try and do that every day. ”
The young player calls those training sessions ‘unbelievable’ and that he’s always learning.

“It’s unbelievable, every day just going in there and being round top quality players and top quality management as well,” said Alexander-Arnold.”Every day I’m learning something new as well and hopefully if I keep learning I’ll keep pushing on and fighting for places.”
Other than Clyne, Alexander-Arnold points to the leadership of Jordan Henderson on how he makes it easy for young players to be successful.
“I think all the players are really friendly with the young players,” said Alexander-Arnold. “They’ve obviously been there at one point in their career as well. I couldn’t really pick someone out but I’d say the captain [Jordan] Henderson took us under his wing, talked to us about how hard it’s going to be but obviously we’re good enough to be there, that’s why we’re there.”
The young player is looking forward to the day that he’s fully in the first team.
“I’m just going to keep working hard, keep learning, do the things in training he wants me to do. With time I’ll mature, I should be fighting for places,” Alexander-Arnold said.
