UCL: Latest Leicester City injury news ahead of UEFA Champions League debut

Leicester City open their European campaign tomorrow against Belgian champions Club Brugge without several key parts of their first team.

Leicester City got back to regular season action post the international break against Liverpool this past Saturday.

In what was a more than frustrating appearance at Anfield the English Champions were put to the sword by the Reds and their only goal coming as a defensive error that Jamie Vardy pounced on.

One reason that many feel the Foxes were not at the top of the game is because of the lack of Nampalys Mendy in the first team.

The recently arrived Frenchman from Nice looked a new key to the club’s continued success in the little playing time he has had since moving to England.

However, an injury picked up before the international break sees him still sidelined with no expectations of a return until at the earliest this coming weekend.

Additionally Danny Simpson is now sidelined with a believed hamstring injury suffered early on in the Liverpool match.

Simpson’s efforts on both the attack and defense will surely be missed and while Luis Hernandez is expected to be a worthy stand-in, he is not the same dynamic player in that position.

Lastly Jeff Schlupp remains out of the first team due to a muscle strain that has seen his pace and supersub ability curtailed for the time being.

Currently there are no other pressing concerns for the club on the injury front and it is hoped that it remains that way following their trip to Belgium.
