USA eyes U-20 World Cup semifinal place vs Venezuela

The U.S. Under-20 men's national team is a round away from its best showing at a World Cup in 30 years, and it can achieve that feat Sunday with a quarterfinal win over Venezuela (2 a.m. ET, FS2).

Hours after the two nations' senior teams played to a friendly draw, their youth sides meet in South Korea with a place in the final four–where the U.S. hasn't been since 1989–on the line. The U.S. was ruthless in its 6-0 triumph over New Zealand in the round of 16, but it meets a Venezuela side that hasn't conceded in the tournament yet and rolled to a 3-0-0 record in a group featuring Mexico and Germany.

The winner will go on to face the winner of Portugal vs. Uruguay in the semifinals.
