Valencia announce former United player Neville as new assistant
Valencia have announced the appointment of former Manchester United, Everton and England player Phil Neville as their new assistant coach.
Although reports in England state the deal is not yet finalized, Neville will be No.2 to Valencia manager Nuno Espirito Santo at the Mestalla, with the club looking to build on its fourth-place finish in La Liga last season.
Neville, 38, has experience of coaching at Manchester United, where he worked with current Real Sociedad boss David Moyes, and England U21s.
“Phil Neville has great experience at the top level of competition, but above all he has knowledge and values that fit perfectly with our team and our club," Nuno said in a statement on Valencia's website.
"He has always been a team player, and our philosophy is based on teamwork. We are – and want to continue to be - a group. I am convinced that he is going to help us a lot.”
Valencia will play Champions League football next season if they progress past the qualifying round in August.
